Guiding the Global Partnership: Amina Mohammed named honorary chair of international data coalition

The Thematic Network on Data for Sustainable Development is pleased to congratulate the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data on its newly named Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Group. UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed, a member of SDSN’s Leadership Council, will serve as the Honorary Chair of the Board. SDSN has been a champion and active Anchor Partner of the of the Global Partnership since its inception in 2015. Individuals and institutions in SDSN have been leaders in applying data and technology to make and monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
SDSN’s Data Thematic Network (TN) is proud to continue its commitment to the Global Partnership through the new leadership structure. Six members of the expert group have been nominated and appointed to prominent roles. Barbara Ryan, Director of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), has been appointed to the Board of Directors. The TN is well represented on the Technical Advisory Group of the Global Partnership, with appointments of TN co-chair Shaida Badiee of Open Data Watch, SDSN Senior Advisor Jessica Espey, and members Laveesh Bhandari of Indicus Foundation, Emmanuel Letouzé of Data-Pop Alliance, and Philipp Schönrock of CEPEI.
Through these appointments, SDSN will uphold its role as a thought leader in the global sustainable development data community. We look forward to the future of the Global Partnership as it continues to catalyze the data revolution for the Sustainable Development Goals.
